Remind your children constantly through your words. They are unlimited – that they can have anything, do anything, and be anything they want.
Remind them to speak of what they want and to focus on that. When they say they do not want something, ask them what they do want. Always bring them back to what they want.
Embrace each of your children as being unique individuals. Rejoice in their freedom to express themselves.
Allow them to think and learn their own lessons and know within yourself that everything is unfolding for them correctly.
Keep moving forward in this never-ending journey, helping them grow and prosper into being their own self.
After much reading, discussing and watching I am convinced that over 95% of people going into a new year don’t have written measurable goals for the year. Many or probably most have heard this and know the importance of goal setting goals, still not written down.
If you are a sales person and say “Wow! I need more sales to make my year!” — You may be out of luck. If your sales cycle takes longer than 10 weeks from start to close to shipment, you are running out of time.
Now is the time to begin looking toward the New Year 2019. Begin by setting an appointment with yourself for 30 – 60 minutes. Get blank paper or a blank computer screen and begin writing your thoughts and ideas for accomplishment next year. This first cut at goal setting doesn’t have to be neat — just take time to think about and write your ideas and thoughts down. My beginning session is usually quite messy and unorganized.
Put this information away in a place you absolutely won’t forget where it is so that you can retrieve it, early December. Then set an appointment with yourself for 30 – 60 minutes early December and get your list out.
In December you will be amazed at the progress you will have already made toward thinking about and planning your goals for next year. Your fist list may be messy, but you will be ready to define and refine the list. You will be subtracting, adding and modifying the original set of goals. Make the list a little neater and resolve to begin your goals and measure your goals.
Why do I believe in doing this? It’s because I use this method every year and then I set a tracking system and measure progress. This works!
Try for yourself and get into the 5% group of people who actually write and strive to achieve their goals. Remember a lot of “Luck” goes along with a lot of preparation.
While continuing to build my own goal system I have found and in process of reviewing a software program that looks very promising — Click and have a look
I’ll comment further as I look at this software — Let me know your thoughts.
I was introduced to one of the latest quality systems of the time in 1997. The Boeing quality system. We passed in December 1997 and never looked back.
I have always embraced the latest quality system available for the company.
Last month our company passed and moved from AS9100c to AS9100d quality system.
10 years ago I was introduced to “Lean Manufacturing” and after a bit of non-belief from employees, I made “Lean Manufacturing” a permanent part of my organization. Now in a new company I plan to again go completely into “Lean Manufacturing”. It can be done in a job shop. It definitely worked in my last company.
Couple the efficiency gains of “Lean Manufacturing” with the really good principles of the quality system AS9100d and really good things happen to the organization and the bottom line.
You can end up doing a whole lot more with a whole lot less. Our previous company went from $4 million in yearly sales with 90 employees to producing $15 million in yearly sales with 91 employees.
This stuff works — But — only if top management believes and works through the processes of quality and “Lean Manufacturing”.
Sounds almost too good to be true. I lived it. It works. Let me know your thoughts, and/or, contact me with questions.

So drive by gyms on the way to work — What do you see? Parking lots with fewer and fewer cars.
Tiresome to write about goals when inside you know that you won’t or can’t keep them going.
End of first quarter is near. Are you feeling good about the accomplishments so far this year? Will you feel good about completing the first three months.
Interesting question — especially for me. I am pretty much meeting or exceeding my goals set for Q1 of 2017. I always look back and see that I could have done things differently, or better. However, I do feel good with progress made so.
What is your attitude toward the first quarter of the year?
Are you ahead and going to finish the first quarter of the year with sales, personal, family, financial, etc. goals on-track or ahead of schedule?
OR— Are you the person who says “I did Ok this quarter, just a little or just a lot behind — Not to worry! — I have three more quarters to catch up!”
Like most people I have talked with, we all seem to fall into one of the above categories.
In my career I was the person always going to have plenty of time in the last three quarters to catch-up. Sometimes I did and sometimes I didn’t.
Several years ago I read a great article and when I find it again I will most likely publish it and recognize the author. The gist of the article was to get the feeling of success as soon as possible with new a new year and new goals. Try really hard to get goals accomplished monthly. But — Be extremely diligent in getting the goals completed and even get ahead for the quarter. The feeling of knowing that you are there or ahead is mesmerizing. It can literally fuel you to do better the next month and quarters ahead.
You owe it to yourself and the “Stakeholders” / “Stockholders” around you to be the best you can be.
Have you ever thought about how easy or difficult it is to do business with your company?
I look at other businesses and items of interest, especially on the internet. Many times I turn away and do not get any information about the company or its products. If before I see the product or service I have to give my contact information or worse, a credit card to see something free — I leave!
Having said that — I started looking at doing business with my company. Is it easy or difficult? My conclusion was that it was difficult. We didn’t really make things easy.
So now I am on a quest of making this business easy to get information and do business with us. Not an easy quick task. However, I am continually reviewing our practices and asking — “What makes doing business with us easier?”
Is it easy or difficult to do business with your company? Good luck — !

I try to write down all the sales, work and in many cases life excuses for not moving forward. The box is fun to have to have. I keep it on a shelf near my desk. As soon as the excuses start flying I get it out. Most excuses are now neatly written and in the box. But — Every now and then some new form of excuse making pops up and in the box it goes.
We are all going through the first half ot the first quarter of 2017. Aare sales on track? Are shipments On-Time? Is it easier to do business this year with your company than it was last year? Are continuous improvement habits a part of work and life?
I believe PMF – Polytronix Machining and Fabrication will have a great year 2017. I feel good about our prospects. I know we are doing many, maybe not all, behaviors to create a successful year.
Stay on your game and make this first quarter a great quarter for 2017.
Momentum – What a powerful word when thinking and working on your goals for 2017.
I have many goals that I really want to accomplish. Some of my goals can’t be completed in a day or month or a year. These longer harder goals are important and may take several years to accomplish.
Well — After writing and thinking about this early last year, I reaffirmed my longer term goals as being very important to me when accomplished. I have reaffirmed and dedicated daily time 15 – 20 minutes to stay on task. I didn’t miss a day during last year 2016, I kept the momentum going.
My reaffirmation was easy. The hard part was not making a very easy to use measurement tool to follow progress. For longer term goals I was halfheartedly tracking progress with nothing really jumping out to me saying — “You are not on track here, keep up the momentum!” Now I have a tracking system that shows Green when on track and Red when off track.
Do you have a measurement system for your important Goals?
