Goal Setting – 95%+ People Do Not Write Their Goals

3 Things need to be completed for 2023.

It is reported that 95+% of people going into a new year do not have written measurable goals.

We all have heard this bit of wisdom, yet we still do not have written goals.

Begin now to look toward goals for 2023.

Do these three things during December, and you will be part of the 5% of people who have written goals.

1. Set an appointment time with yourself, 30–60 minutes. Get a blank paper or a blank computer screen and begin writing your thoughts and ideas for accomplishment next year. This first attempt at goal setting doesn’t have to be neat — take time to think about and write your ideas, thoughts, and expectations for 2023. The first attempts are pretty messy and unorganized. Then put this information away for a few days (Be sure to put it in a place to easily find it).

2. Set another time with yourself for 30–60 minutes and get your first list and notes out. You will be surprised at the progress you will have already made toward thinking about and planning for next year. Review your first session, subtract, add, and modify your original list and notes.

3. Set a 3rd time with yourself near the end of December. Many people tell me they like doing this during the holiday season when not working and can really spend time thinking about wants and goals for next year. Make this list as neat and useable as you want. Put your list in place to retrieve it often. Do not be afraid to change, delete, or add goals; this is a work in progress, and it may never be complete.

Doing this every year and setting up a tracking system, and measuring progress ensures that you will see goals completed.

You will do and accomplish more.

Try for yourself and get into the 5% group of people who write and strive to achieve their goals.

Make 2021 an awesome year!

I hope we all have a great 2021!

However, we all need be mindful of the COVID-19 virus and do our best to help contain it and see it go away.

We have new opportunities to handle new challenges, and need create new ways of living and improving life.

I like the start of a new year.  I get out all the notes and scribbled thoughts I wrote down last year and especially the thinking and planning time I spent in December as to what I expect 2021 to be and where I plan to be by year end.  I review my short-term intermediate and long-term goals.  I organize and rewrite them for easy and frequent review.

Think about these areas of your life when setting out for the new year:

Work, Family & Friends, Finance, Faith, Self-improvement, Health, Other — Something you have been wanting to start.

Here are several tips to keep your goals moving for 2021:

1.   Write goals down and make them easy to find.

2.   Look at your goals and make time to work on your goals daily, even if you spend only a few minutes.

3.   If a goal seems too hard, revise it. Or look at breaking it to smaller parts to work on.

4.   Never give up — Make 2021 your best year yet!

Ready for the NEW YEAR 2021?

2021 is on the way!  Make this your best year yet!

If you haven’t already started, make time to think about and write goals and expectations for the following:

  1. Family & Friends
  2. Financial
  3. Health
  4. Faith

Remember goals will require some time to set up and a lot of mundane work and daily must do behaviors.

Most will be easy to do and as the great business philosopher Jim Rohn has said “Most daily goals and behaviors are easy not to do”.

Put the written goals in a place to review them often, preferably daily.

Look at the list this time next year — What a difference 365 days will make.

2021 here we come!  Stay safe and happy holidays!

Sales Tracking – Daily, Monthly, Yearly

Sales is one of the easiest jobs to measure and hold people accountable.

One problem I hear and see, is that companies don’t measure sales peoples behaviors. I don’t understand this. They treat sales as some “magical” process that will happen because they gave someone the title of sales person.

Recently, I met a sales person requesting help in tracking his sales performance and work. He wanted to do certain things, prospecting calls per day, face-to-face meetings per week, dollars quoted, and accountability for sales booked. He wanted help in understanding how to build a sales process.

Next month I am starting a sales accountability and tracking program, a great lead-in for starting a new year. If you would like to join and get free Monthly sales trackers opt in to Free Sales Tracker.

If you really want to excel in sales and don’t have an accountability group within you company, find some like-minded people and meet weekly to see how your behaviors are working or not.

Last week I talked about goal setting and a program I am looking at – go to Goal Setting.
